This species seems to be widely distributed south of Honshu except for the Ogasawara Islands, and inhabits dead trees and dead branches. The head is raised on the dorsum, and both maxillary stylets are extremely long, touching in the middle. This genus is close to Bactrothrips, and the tergite VI of the male has a pair of horn-like tubercles. Fungus-feeder.
